
Competencies and Skills
- Working understanding of corporate governance principles, frameworks, and regulatory
requirements. - Familiarity with legal requirements and compliance related to board and council operations,
including relevant local and international laws. - Understanding of the Institute’s structure, culture, and strategic objectives to provide
relevant advice and support. - Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain the highest levels of
ethical conduct. - Ability to provide strategic advice to the Governing Council and work effectively with
senior leadership, including the CEO. - Knowledge of risk management principles to help mitigate risks in governance processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for drafting reports, minutes, and
correspondence, and for effective interaction with Council members and stakeholders. - Organizing meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and ensuring timely follow-up
on action items. - Coordinating logistics and managing documentation.
- Ensuring accuracy in all records, minutes, reports, and compliance-related documentation.
- Managing multiple tasks and deadlines, often for complex governance activities and
compliance timelines. - Ability to interact professionally with the Governing Council, senior executives, and
external stakeholders, building strong working relationships. - Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), meeting management tools,
and document management systems. - Ability to review and critically appraise data and empirical literature
- Advanced knowledge of a range of research and evaluation methods and their application.
